XII National Contest of Opposition and Merits, year 2019, for entering the Diplomatic and Consular Escalafónof the Republic of Paraguay.

                                   

Third Secretaries incorporated into the EDC through the XI National Opposition and Merit Contest 2018

 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay extends a cordial invitation to those interested in running for the XII National Contest of Opposition and Merits to enter the Diplomatic and Consular Escalafón of the Republic of Paraguay in the category of Third Secretary and Vice Consul, as to the provisions of Law 1335/1999 "On the Diplomatic and Consular Escalafón".
 
People of natural Paraguayan nationality, who are at least 22 years of age at the time of registration, who are not disabled to hold public office and who are in full enjoyment of civil and political rights may participate in the 2019 Contest. who are university graduates or who have "university level" which will be accredited with the third approved regular course, if the degree were annual, or the first six semesters approved, in the case of biannual careers.
 
For the 2019 Contest, ten (10) places will be authorized to be assigned to the contestants who have obtained the best qualifications, according to the current provisions and the criteria established in article 8, second paragraph, of the aforementioned Law that reads:
 
“The Board of Qualifications will evaluate the tests and merits of the contestants, selecting those who have obtained the best qualifications until completing the number of places set in the call, taking into account the following criteria:
 
a) A minimum of 80% with people who have a university degree in the areas of Law, Economics, International Relations, Social Sciences or other related fields.
 
b) A maximum of 20% with citizens of recognized capacity and who possess “university level”.
 
The category of “university level” is accredited by having the third regular course approved, if the degree was annual, or the first six semesters approved, in the case that the degree was semiannual.
 
For the purposes of the 2019 Contest, the following disciplines are considered “Social Sciences”: Philosophy, History, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Education, Communication Sciences, (including Journalism), Geography, Psychology, Letters and Bachelor of Foreign Languages . Related to the area of ​​Law, the Notary career and related to the area of ​​Economics, International Commerce, Commercial Engineering and Business Administration, Accounting Sciences, Marketing (Bachelor or Engineering).
 
Applicants who have degrees in other branches of knowledge may apply, but their applications will be considered within the 20% established by Law 1335/99.
 
The corresponding exams will be administered in October of the current year and will cover the following subjects:
 
- Economy and International Trade;
- Foreign language (English, French, Portuguese or German);
- Spanish language;
- Economic geography;
- Fundamental notions of Public International Law;
- History of the international relations of Paraguay in its global context.

     The 5th Annual Latin American Film Festival is taking place at California State University Northridge from November 16 through 18, 2018. Sponsored by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and UNAM Los Angeles, this three day event features award-winning Latin American films that have been selected to represent their countries at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Chela and Chiquita, both descended from wealthy families in Asunción, Paraguay, have been together for over 30 years. But recently their financial situation has worsened and they begin selling off their inherited possessions. But when their debts lead to Chiquita being imprisoned on fraud charges, Chela is forced to face a new reality.

Driving for the first time in years, she begins to provide a local taxi service to a group of elderly wealthy ladies. As Chela settles into her new life, she encounters the much younger Angy, forging a fresh and invigorating new connection. Chela finally begins to break out of her shell and engage with the world, embarking on her own personal, intimate revolution.

On May 14, the Consulate General offered a reception for the Independence Day at the City Club of Los Angeles. Local authorities, representatives of companies, chambers of commerce, academic institutions, of the Catholic Church, Consuls from friendly countries, and members of the Paraguayan community residing in the jurisdiction were invited to share that special day, and to take their greeting to the country to through Consul General Roberto Benítez Fernández

The Gold Seekers at the Palm Springs Festival.

The Paraguayan film Los buscadores (The Gold Seekers) travels to the US  to participate in the New Voices New Visions category of The Palm Springs Film Festival.
 
The second production of the duet Maneglia-Schémbori, which arrives to the US under the title The Gold Seekers, will have three screenings at the Festival: Tuesday 9, at 10.00, at  Camelot Theaters; on Friday the 12th, at 7:30 pm, and on Saturday the 13th, at 2:00 pm, in the Regal Cinemas.
 
The film, which closed the year with more than 137,000 tickets sold in Paraguay, became the second most watched paraguayan film in the history of Paraguayan cinema, behind 7 Cajas, the first film by the same directors, Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori.
 
Los Buscadores, also gathered more than 4,000 spectators in the film series for cities in the paraguayan country side.
 
A few years ago, the directors had already participated in the same festival in Palm Springs, with 7 Cajas, which at that time was also participating in the category New Visions, achieving a special mention.
