The Ambassador
José Antonio Dos Santos is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Paraguay to the United States of America, a post he assumed in August 2021.
Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Dos Santos served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Asunción (2019-2021), a position he also held from 2006 to 2009. Abroad, Ambassador Dos Santos has served as Permanent Representative of Paraguay to the United Nations in New York (2009-2014), as Consul General in Los Angeles (2002-2006), as Minister–Chargé d’Affaires in Ottawa (1997-1998), and as Consul General in New York (1993-1997).
Ambassador Dos Santos has a Law Degree from the National University of Asunción and a Masters in International Law from The American University in Washington, D.C. Ambassador Dos Santos speaks fluent English and Spanish, and was born in Asunción on May 29, 1964.
