Repatriations

Paraguay has a Repatriation program, which consist in mechanisms that support to its nationals immigrants on their desire to returning to Paraguay and reside there permanently.

The support for Repatriation that is granted by the Government is related to cover the cost and necessities for the return trip. Such grants are government’s subsidies and for some special cases, like Paraguayans in high risk or emergency, one way transportation may be provided. Also, facilitate the human remains transportation.

In all cases the process for Repatriations, is helping forward to enter into Paraguay the individual’s personal belongings, granted with exemption of any fee applied for Customs Clearance. Household goods, working tools for professional, tax free, customs duty and others gravamen, including the duty applied for custom clearance purposes or any type of internal administration taxation that grave the household goods.

It is important to remember that all the goods brought, into Paraguay, including the ones of the Repatriates are subject to inspection for the Custom Authorities of the Republic of Paraguay.

In order to apply for Repatriation, and request subsidies or tax exemption, or both, one should be complete a Form “Solicitud de Repatriación” and submit it to the Consulate’s Office, including a list of family members accompanying and a packing list of the personal goods with proper Documentation.


Important: The applicant must be accredited with a valid Paraguayan ID, documents of proof of continues residency in the US for a minimum 2 interrupted years


After verify the provided information, the Consulate will issue a “Constancia of Repatriation” a letter that is the record in the applicant’s name. The “Constancia” letter is free, and Consular Fees are not applicable. Also, all personal documents belonging to the Repatriates and their primary family can be legalized without charge; they are exempt of Consular Fees as well.

Once in Paraguay, the Repatriate must present the “ Constancia Letter” that was issued by the Consulate, to the “Secretaria de Desarrollo para Repatriados y Refugiados ( calle Mcal. Estigarribia 1340 entre Pa’í Perez y Curupayty, Asunción), where the Repatriate will receive the

(In 72 hours) a “ Certificado de Repatriación” a document that exempt the taxes on the goods and belongings and facilitate any process concerning to the Repatriation.

With the “Certificado de Repatriación” you will obtain complete exemption of duty customs, will receive benefits and preferential treatment for:

  1. RADICATION OF FOREIGN SPOUSE AND CHILDREN
  1. VALIDATION OF COLLEGE’S AND UNIVERSITY’S DIPLOMAS.
  1. VALIDATION ON CERTIFICATE’S STUDIES AND COURSES.
  1. OPTION FOR OBTAINING PARAGUAY NATIONALITY

    5. TAX EXEMPTION ON FEE APPLIED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARENCE

6. ELEGIBITLITY TO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TRAINING CURSES ON CAPACITATION

7. ELEGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR CREDIT TO OWN A HOME FOR PARAGUAYAN REPATRIATES.


8. ELEGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR CREDIT TO OWN A HOME FOR PARAGUAYANS LIVING OUTSIDE OF PARAGUAY.
